Crossing construction firm ask for site permission - after they have built it! Weekly list of planning applications submitted to Thurrock Council

MORE than a year since they moved onto the site and after erecting a number of buildings, a company engaged in works associated with the proposed Lower Thames Crossing and associated highway and infrastructure works on the Essex side of the crossing have applied for retrospective planning permission.

Skanska Construction have been using the Lakeside overspill car park on Pilgrims Lane, North Stifford, for some time but have this past week got round to submitting the appropriate planning permission.

Campaigners against the crossing have often spoke of the lack of due procedure and disregard for public consultation by Highways England, which is proposing the scheme.

Thurrock Council has said it is opposed to the current proposed route of the crossing roads which goes through the heart of countryside in the borough and has already displaced a significant number of residents.

Residents have the chance to comment on the retrospective application.
