THE funeral of much-respected local man and political activist Tony Coughlin will take place next week.

Mr Coughlin died last month prompting many triubutes about his work in the local community, particularly in the Thurrock Park area.

He was a stalwart of the local Conservative group and borough MP Dame Jackie Doyle-Price, who paid tribute at the time of his death, added: "I have been very touched to be contacted by people who worked with him over the years and wish to pay their respects.  

"He leaves behind a very big footprint and will be much missed."

A funeral service will take place on Tuesday, 24 April at 2.30pm at Bowers Gifford crematorium. The family have requested no flowers but for donations to be given to the Lee Rigby Foundation (https://www.justgiving.com/leerigby-foundation), a cause close to Tony's heart.
