Delays following roadworks and police incident at Dartford Crossing

By Nub News Reporter 7th May 2024

FOLLOWING significant problems and delays for motorists approaching the tunnels at the Dartford Crossing this morning (Tuesday, 7 May) an incident being managed by police on the QEII bridge compounded the logjam with traffic stacked up at both sides of the river Thames.

The problems early this morning were caused by emergency roadworks around Junction 1, which led to several miles of delays on crossing approaches in Kent.

Then Essex Police announced the shutting of lanes on the bridge.

A statement said: "The QEII bridge has been closed following a serious incident which was reported to us at 9am this morning, Tuesday 7 May.

"We were called to concerns for the welfare of man. All emergency services are at the scene.

"At this stage, the bridge has been closed whilst the incident is being dealt with.

"We will provide an update as soon as we practically can."
