EASTBOUND traffic on the A13 woll likely be delayed due to urgent repair works taking place this afternoon (Thursday, 14 March) - with further delays to follow including a weekend closure.

Motirists have become increasingly annoyed with the state of the carriageway between the Five Bells roundabout and the Pitsea flyover and junction.

Essex County Council has relaid part of the road but is making further emergency repairs following an increased number of complaints.

A 40mph speed limit and a lane closure on the A13 will be in operation while a number of quite severe potholes are dealt with.

The restrictions will remain in place until 9pm on Friday evening and then a full eastbound closure will be installed until 5am Saturday morning.

A statement from Essex County Council says: "The work they will be carrying out will be an interim measure to remove the danger and they will need to return at a later date to carry out a permanent repair to the carriageway."
