Developers battle on in bid to turn two homes into seven in Stanford-le-Hope

FOR the second time would-be developers who want to replace two semi-detached homes in Stanford-le-Hope with seven new homes have appealed against rejection of their bid by Thurrock Council.
Cedarmill Developments Ltd have taken their case to the Planning Inspectorate after being told in April that their sccheme for a site at 53 - 55 Third Avenue had been rejected.
The application did not go before councillors, but was rejected by officers who ruled that the plan to demolish two existing detached dwellings and replace them with seven dwellings consisting of
one semi-detached pair and five detached dwellings was unacceptable. Officers said:"This would be over development of these existing generous residential plots in the Homesteads Ward, an area in which spacious gardens are a particularly valuable character trait, and would result in a significant adverse impact upon this identified character area." A previous application for developing the site was also rejected and after that too went to appeal, the planning inspector backed Thurrock Council's decision.
