A LORRY driver was taken to hospital with serious injuries after being freed from the wreckage of his vehicle following an accident on the M25 in Thurrock earlier today (Thursday, 12 January).

The incident happened around 11am and involved two HGVs in a collision between junctions 30 and 31. Fire crews from Grays, Basildon, Orsett, and Brentwood were involved in the rescue operation.

The man suffered serious but non-life-threatening injuries and was rushed to Basildon Hospital. The carriageway was closed for four hours and caused severe delays and congestion.
