A DRIVER fled the scene in the early hours of the morning after his vehicle overturned on the A13, near the Five Bells roundabout, leaving a passenger injured.

The driver was later tracked down by police, while the passenger required treatment after being taken to Basildon Hospital by ambulance.

A statement from Essex police says: "We were called to the A13, following reports of a single vehicle collision near the Five Bells Roundabout at around 1.45am on Sunday, 20 October after a white BMW car left the road, and overturned.

"One passenger was taken to hospital with minor injuries.

"The uninjured driver left the scene prior to police arrival but was spoken to later that same day.

"Our investigation continues."

The East of England Ambulance Service confirmed the incident, adding: "We were called at 10.04pm with reports of a collision on a roundabout of the A1013.

"We sent one ambulance and an ambulance officer vehicle.
