A TEENAGE boy who was riding an E-scooter is in hospital with serious injuries after a collision with a vehicle at a busy junction.

The incident happened last evening (Friday, 23 January) at the junction known as Rookery Corner, where The A1013 Stanford Road) meets London Road. The injunction, which includes a pedestrian crossing, is managed by traffic lights.

Local roads, already heavily congested because of major gasworks on London Road, were blocked for some time while medical teams, including a team who arrived in the Essex Air Ambulance, treated the boy, reported to be aged 17, before he was taken to hospital.

An Essex Police spokesman said: "At around 5.20pm officers were called to the scene of a collision in Stanford Road, Stanford-le-Hope.

"It was reported the collision involved a car and an E-scooter.

"The rider of the E-scooter was found to have suffered serious injuries and was taken on to hospital for further care.

"Our enquiries are continuing."

Police added the car involved stopped at the scene and no arrests have been made.
