Eight held as police team respond to complaints about anti-social gang smoking cannabis

By Nub News Reporter   14th Oct 2025

THURROCK Neighbourhood Policing officers responded swiftly to reports of anti-social behaviour and suspected drug use in Parry Close on the Homesteads estate in Stanford-le-Hope on Monday evening (13 October)

Officers arrived to find a group of eight individuals gathered near an open garage.

Due to the strong smell of cannabis and drug paraphernalia seen, among other things, all eight were detained for a Section 23 Misuse of Drugs Act search, which led to two arrests for drug-related offences.

A 20-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of Possession Class B drugs and a 17-year-old boy (both from the Stanford-le-Hope area) was also arrested on suspicion of pPossession with intent to supply.

The 20-year-old man was also later found to be wanted for previously failing to appear at court and has been charged while the 17-year-old has been bailed for further enquiries.
