Electrical work means partial closure of Grays police station but officers will still operate from there and front counter service will remain open

A MAJOR refurbishment of Grays Police Station will take place later this year so that essential electrical upgrade work can take place.
Work will take place for around four months, starting in early April 2026, but Essex Police say it will have no impact on services offered in the town and wider Thurrock.
During the works
- All Response officers and Neighbourhood Policing teams will still be based in Grays, working from the police station site, so there will continue to be a visible police presence in the town.
- A temporary mobile police front desk will be available so members of the public can continue to speak to officers in person. The opening hours of the front counter will remain unchanged.
Emergency response, neighbourhood policing, and partnership working will continue as normal throughout the closure.
Chief Superintendent Scott Egerton said: "Grays Police Station is due to undergo an essential upgrade to ensure the police station is fit for modern policing.
"We are ensuring that this won't impact the service we provide to the public with our Neighbourhood Policing Team and response officers all continuing to work from Grays Police Station.
"These uniform officers will all continue to be visible in your community and respond without delay when you call us for help.
"The front counter will remain open to the public with no change to the opening hours."
