EMERGENCY services attended an incident by the side of the Thames this afternoon during which time a body was recovered from the river. The incident was centred on Bexhill Drive.

Details remain sketchy about the incident which involved police, firefighters, the ambulance service, representatives of Essex air Ambulance and the RNLI.

It has been reported a person was recovered but it is not know how long he or she had been in the water.

Nearby householders were quizzed by police and asked if they had witnessed anything.

We will update as soon as we get further information from the emergency services.
