ENGINEERS from Essex and Suffolk Water are working to fix a burst water main which has casued some distruption to supplies to homes in Tilbury this morning (Monday, 8 August).

Homes on St Chad's Road and the nearby Poets Estate were among those worst affected.

A spokesperson for the water company said: "We were made aware of a leak to one of our 6 inch water mains in St Chads Rd, Tilbury, early this morning.

"Our teams attended quickly to investigate the site and were able to locate the leak, and are working in the area carrying out the repair.

"The main was isolated and the local network reconfigured to allow customers' supply to be restored, some customers may experience low pressure this morning while the network recovers through peak demand.

"The team are working hard to ensure water is back in fully supply to those properties affected"

"We apologise for any disruption caused and would like to thank our customers for their patience. For any updates, please go to @eswater_care on Twitter."
