Event will help tot Freddy and his family as he battles illness

A POPULAR Thurrock cafe will host an event this weekend to raise funds for a youngster stricken by illness.

It is the latest in a series of events that has already raised more than £20,000 to help six month old Thurrock tot Freddy Turp and his family as he battles Leukaemia.

Residents across East Thurrock have supported a fundraising campaign to help Freddy's parents Amy and Brennan and other members of the family after he was diagnosed with acute myeloid leukaemia and rushed to Great Ormond Street Hospital where he is undergoing a course of treatment that could last several months.

At the suggestion of staff at the world-famous children's hospital friends launched a fundraising effort to ensure that Amy and Brennan had no money worries as they give their all to support their youngster at his bedside.

The fundraising was planned to alleviate the stress of coping with the cost of staying in London and all the other associated costs of caring for him. Any money left over will be donated to Great Ormond Street.

A target of £30,000 was set and more than two thirds of it has already been achieved following donations through a Go Fund Me page and events including 

On Sunday (19 February) a Charity Cake and Treat Sale will take place at  Bombers Cafe on Brentwood Road on Sunday, 19 February. The sale will start at 10am.
