Family celebrate success of cancer charity fundraising event

A THURROCK Couple are celebrating the success of a cancer charity fundraising event held in Corringham over the Easter Weekend.

Jacqueline and Roger Goldsmith, with the help from agency Star Acts to hosted a variety afternoon on Easter Sunday, to raise awareness of Prostate Cancer, which Roger is battling.

Jacqueline said: "One in eight men are at risk of getting this, to avoid unnecessary treatment men over 50 should get a PSA blood test done. We are just trying to raise awareness.

"We had an amazing turnout and raised £2818.30.

"Many acts gave up their time for free, our regular attendees of our showtime nights and Fizzy Fridays donated lots of raffle prizes.

"It was nice to have the support of the local community coming together for this amazing charity."
