Fire crews tackle blaze at storage terminal where diesel pump was alight

FIREFIGHTERS dealt with a blaze at a Thurrock industrial site this morning.

Crews from Grays, Brentwood, Orsett and Corringham were called to Inter Terminals' site on Askews Farm Road, Grays, after the alarm was raised just after 8am today (Thursday, 21 January).

The fire involved an external diesel pump and firefighters poured foam over the blaze to smother it.

Crews also worked with with on-site staff to isolate the diesel pump and remove as much excess diesel from the tank as possible.

The fire was found to have started accidentally.

The fire was extingished by 9am, and crews made the scene safe before leaving it in the care of the on-site staff at 10.30am.
