Firefighters on standby while gas leak was made safe

FIREFIGHTERS stood by as a precaution today (Monday, 7 July) while engineers dealt with a gas leak in East Tilbury.

The leak, on Bata Avenue was detected this morning and residents were warned to keep windows and doors shut.

The gas pipe was safely closed off around 1pm.
