Fitness programme is back to help Shift the Timber!

By Neil Speight 27th Aug 2020

SHIFT the Timber, a free 12 week football and nutrition programme in Thurrock, will start running again from Tuesday, 1 September.

Cllr Allen Mayes, Thurrock Council's cabinet member for health, said: "Shift the Timber is a great way to get fit, lose some weight or even just get out and meet new people while improving your health.

"It's open to all men and women who live in Thurrock and are aged 18 or over with a BMI of 27 or above. Those who sign up will take part in a football-based exercise programme to increase physical activity levels, and receive specialised nutritional support to change eating habits and lose weight.

"During lockdown, group participation programmes had to be stopped so it's great to see more and more opportunities becoming available again for our residents to get active and improve their diet."
