AN overnight fly-tip, discovered this morning (Tuesday, 25 November) on a junction of the Manorway in Corringham, has caused trouble and expense for a local youth football club.
The dumping of material including roofing felt, window boards and other building materials has blocked the entrance to Corringham Athletic's playing fields, which shares an access to the Manorway with adjacent Old Hall Farm.
As the land is private, the club will have to pay for disposal of the tip.
It's not the first time the area has been used by flytippers and the club are hoping someone might come forward with information about where the dump came from. And that Thurrock Council might implement more measures to prevent such things happening again.
A spokesperson said: "We really are lost for words at the moment, we have dealt with minor issues in the past and been able to ensure we have a safe space for our kids to play football but this is on another scale and we may have to cancel all football at the site this weekend if it can't be safely removed."
If anyone has information about where the dumped material comes from, contact [email protected] and we will pass on the information to local authorites in confidence.
