FUNDRAISERS helping provide personal protection equipment for staff at Basildon and Thurrock Hospital have been able to deliver a much-needed batch of clothing.

Yesterday (Tuesday, 14 April) Thurrock Nub News reported on the amazing story of front line worker Julie Dann and how her friends were supporting staff at the hospital by raising money.

One of them, Nikki Brooks, has just completed a half marathon in isolation and the fruits of her efforts helped pay for a delivery of goods today. Julie is pictured with the items that were delivered.

Nikki, who lives in Basildon where she breeds dogs, is a long time friend of Julie and is currently looking after her two dogs while Julie lives and works at Basildon Hospital.

She says: "Julie and her colleagues at the hospital are inspirational, it's so rewarding to be able to help the in their fight against coronavirus."

Nikki says that raising money is just part of the task she and friends face.

"We have been having problems getting hold of the right equipment, if anyone out there can help we would be delighted to hear from them," she says.

One firm that has already responded is design team Tarbrook Design who have donated 50 coveralls, prompting Nikki to say: "Thank you very much Sherman Webb and Lucy Barnes of Tarbrook for an extremely generous donation of coveralls.

"These will be heading to ITU Basildon Hospital."
