Fundraising youngster is a shining Star
By Nub News Reporter 26th Mar 2026
A BBRAVE youngster who constantly battles a potentially life-threatening illness is hoping to raise awareness of the condition she suffers and raise funds for others affected by it.
Star Smith is ten years-old and suffers from epilepsy. Three years ago, she came close to losing her life because of an attack, but she came through it. Although she must always have emergency medication with her, the youngster puts others before self and takes an optimistic view of life.
Next month she is organising a fundraising event for the Young Epilepsy charity at the Wyldecrest Club on Herd Lane in Corringham.
The family fun day will include stalls, inflatables, face painting and pony rides as well as appearances by Bluey and SpongeBob. It takes place on Saturday, 11 April, starting at 1pm.

Admission is £5 for adults and £3 for children.
Star's mum Tiffany says: "We are so proud of her. She is a brave little girl raising awareness and helping others like her with epilepsy.
"She has been working very hard on bringing this day together. All are welcome to join the day and support Star on her journey."
