ONE lane of the M25 in Essex is still shut after power cables were brought down during a crash involving a lorry.

The motorway was closed in both directions between junction 28 for Brentwood and junction 27 for the M11 in Essex after Tuesday's 24 February) collision. It partially reopened while repairs were made.

The road was then closed overnight to allow UK Power Networks to rehang cables, work which will continue tonight.

Resurfacing work has finished, but one lane on the ant-clockwise carriageway has remained closed for barrier repairs, National Highways said.

Police said the accident had happened after a lorry had a tyre blow-out.

An electricity pole and overhead cables were brought down. Fourteen properties were left without power.

The road will be shut in both directions again tonight so the power company can finish the repairs.
