Storm Eunice: Chadwell garage roofs blown off and wall falls.Trees down in Grays. Cars damaged. Tonight's football is off

AS high winds continue to batter the area residents in Chadwell St Mary could only watch as roofs were ripped off garages, damaging cars.

The garages are adjacent to the Chadwell St Mary tower blocks.

Resident Sharon Winship says property that she has stored in a garage because of the size of her bedsit flat which she shares with her partner is now exposed to the elements.

"We are waiting and hoping the council will come and do something," she told Nub News.

On College Avenue in Grays a tree in a car park has come down, damaging a car. A tree also came down in Uplands, Aveley, and another on London Road in South Stifford.

Tonight's football match at Maldon, where top of the table Aveley were hoping to continue their title challenge, has been postponed.
