TRADERS in Stanford-le-Hope have spoken of their disappointment after yet another traffic issue in the town.

The latest work by gas engineering company on the town's High Street has caused traffic delays but also meant the suspension of parking – which has affected local shops.

While accepting work might be needed, the apparent lack or urgency over the repairs being carried out has raised hackles.

One trader said: It's been going on for two days now and the sign says it could go on for a couple more. But it's not as if there's any urgency about the work. Today (Wednesday, 22 April) very little has been done.

"The loss of parking spaces and the traffic delays have an impact on our business but there never seems to be any urgency from Cadent to get a job finished."

Cadent say the work is likely to continue until Friday (24 April) as engineers are carrying out 'essential works' in the road related to the supply of adjacent properties.
