PURFLEET Heritage & Military Centre has received two original oil paintings of the centre as a thank you gift from local professional artist Wendy J. Stone .

Wendy runs the Purfleet-on-Thames Art Group at the Purfleet-on-Thames Community Hub, providing local residents with the opportunity to develop their artistic talents. During the summer holidays and half term, the hub is shut leaving the group without a home.

The Heritage Centre stepped in to offer a welcoming environment so the group could continue. The arrangement proved popular with the budding artists, who enjoyed working in the historic surroundings of the Centre.

Chair & Trustee of the centre Trevor Batchelor said: "The presentation of these two original paintings came as a wonderful and unexpected surprise. The paintings will be displayed by the entrance and will be a lasting reminder of the importance of local organisations supporting one another.

"At Purfleet Heritage & Military Centre, we believe that preserving our heritage also means being an active part of the community we serve."
