Gimme Christmas shelter! Borough venues open their doors to local communities

THURROCK Council housing portfolio holder Cllr Luke Spillman has been promoting the warm welcome offered to borough folk by residents and staff at the authority's sheltered housing complexes in the run up to Christmas.

In his online message to residents, Cllr Spillman says: "Get into the festive spirit and come along to Christmas events being held at our complexes!

"Come along to a Christmas Fayre held at Langland Close Hall in Corringham, SS17 7LB, on Friday, 2 December, 11am to 2pm, and Tom Wood Communal Hall in Corringham, SS17 7TA, on Tuesday, 6 December, 11am to 2pm. All welcome at both events which include mince pies, handmade decorations, lucky dip, raffle, carols and more. 

"Kynoch Court residents have arranged a Christmas Celebration with Ian Gallagher on Tuesday, 13 December at The Hall in Kynoch Court Sheltered Housing Complex, Stanford-le-Hope, SS17 0AF. The event starts at 6pm with a buffet followed by entertainment. There will also be a raffle, singing and dancing. Please bring your own drinks. All welcome but tickets, which cost £10 per person, are limited on a first come, first served basis.

"Sheltered housing residents can join in the festivities at Headon Hall, Stifford Clays, RM16 2AS, on Friday, 16 December from 1pm to 5pm.

"There will be a Christmas Fayre and Golden Oldies Grotto, including a tombola, crafts and painting, mulled wine and mince pies, and more. Also open to the local community. Thank you to Acorns Community Centre for supporting the grotto."
