A POLICE raid on a property in Grays today (Thursday, 9 March) led to discovery of a cannabis farm.

Grays town centre team officers, assisted by the Essex Police operational support group, seized 170 cannabis plants at an address on Argent Street

A 25-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of cannabis production and remains in custody as inquiries continue.

Officers have seized the plants, which will be destroyed.

Grays town team officer PC Adam Walker said: "The production and sale of drugs by organised criminal gangs involves the exploitation of vulnerable people, who can be forced into criminal activity against their will.

"It's also closely linked with violence and the proceeds fund more criminal activity which, in turn, leads to fear and misery for individuals and communities.

"So we are focused on bringing the criminals behind the growth and sale of cannabis to justice and helping to keep our communities safe."
