GRAYS Riverside councillor Jane Pothecary has called for a post box to be installed in the Belmont neighbourhood on London Road following concerns from local residents. For years, a post box was situated at the corner of Castle Road and London Road in the ward but it was removed to make way for a new restaurant.

Speaking to Thurrock Nub News from the corner of Castle Road and London Road, she said: "For as long as anyone can remember, my residents in the Belmont Neighbourhood were able to use a Royal Mail post box at the corner of Castle Road and London Road. The location of this meant that they could easily access the Royal Mail. Since the post box was removed, no replacement has been put forward.

"Residents have contacted me to express their concern about the lack of post box. The problem is particularly acute for our elderly, disabled and vulnerable residents who now have a trek to be able to post anything. Therefore, I am calling on Royal Mail to rectify this situation and install a much-needed post box for our residents in the Belmont neighbourhood to access."
