Grays to honour the fallen before match

GRAYS Athletic FC will be marking the Remembrance weekend with a ceremony at their home match against Stowmarket Town on Saturday (13 November) at Parkside in Aveley.

The Royal British Legion will be in attendance and before the game wreaths will be presented and the Last Post sounded.

Grays will be particularly remembering former players who died in the First and Second World Wars.

They are, from WW1, Thomas Ellison, Roy Dunn, Bill Kennedy, "Mac" Harris, "Fairy" Wakefield, Billy Webb and Bill Bullock and WW2 Charles "Tiny" Ladd (he was on HMS Hood when she was blown up in battle with the Bismarck), Norman Lattimore, Tony Quinn and Roy Seaver.

Other matches involving borough sides this weekend are Coggeshall Town v Aveley and Tilbury v Hullbridge Sports. East Thurrock are without a match.
