Gridlock in West Thurrock and around Lakeside after crash

TRAFFIC is currently gridlocked in the west of the borough around Lakeside and congestion is getting worse report drivers, some of who have been trapped in the area around the regional shopping centre and retail parks for up to an hour already.

Just after noon it was reported that the QEII bridge had been closed following an earlier accident and that is believed to have precipitated the congestion.

At 2pm the AA reported on the congestion between J31 A1306 to J1A A206 (Dartford) and on the bridge but added "all lanes have been re-opened".

Bus services across the area are affected and drivers are being urged to avoid the area if at all possible until the queues clear.
