Heat pump scheme is hot stuff say award judges

THURROCK Council staff were among those who enjoyed success at a recent awards ceremony.

Working in partnership with Kensa Contracting, the council has upgraded the heating systems at three of its tower blocks in Chadwell St Mary.

And the project has been recognised with an award at the South East Energy Efficiency Awards!

The scheme, which is replacing night storage heaters with ground source heat pumps, won the the Regional Large Scale Project (>250K) of the Year Award.

Spades first hit the ground for this project in July 2022 following a successful council bid under the first wave of funding from the government's Social Housing Decarbonisation Fund.
