THURROCK leisure services provider Impulse Leisure has been awarded a grant of £416,776 by Sport England.

The grant came about following a joint submission from Thurrock Council and Thurrock Community Leisure, the company that operates as Impulse

A statement from Thurrock Council says: "The government funding helps to offset the losses experienced by Thurrock Community Leisure (TCL) with the closure of the leisure facilities during the pandemic and ensure the centres are ready to reopen in line with the Roadmap on 12 April 2021.

"The council has invested over £2 million in its leisure centres over the last five years and is looking forward to them reopening next Monday when TCL will welcome back its customers.

"As part of ongoing discussions, the council is looking forward to working with TCL on new, modern arrangements for the delivery of the leisure facilities in the borough."
