WORKERS at an industrial estate in flood-stricken Stanford-le-Hope - together with the residents of several local houses - are trapped by floodwaters which have blocked Wharf Road.

Workers have contacted Nub News because they have been told by emergency services that there is nothing that can be done to help them get through floodwater.

As darkness fell a team moved in to try and pump water from the road, but initially it did not look to be having too much of an effect and water was still cascading into the underpass below the railway line. The video does contain strong language!

A sort of ferry service to escape was being offered by one brave chap - who ended up very wet but managed to paddle and pull an inflatable canoe across the waters.
