UP to two centimetres of snow is being forecast in Thurrock on New Year's Eve.

And there is a possibility it might arrive even sooner with some forecasters tipping Wednesday as a possibility.

The official forecast from the Met Office for the region says: "Outlook for Wednesday to Friday - Largely dry but cold. A chance of showers or rain at times, these turning to sleet or snow inland.

"Frost and ice likely each night, with patches of freezing fog."
