A FOX was rescued by a caring school site manager and he has released a video of the incident in the hope that it helps dissuade people from discarding rubbish.

Steve Austin is site manager of Thameside Primary School in Grays and came across the fox with its head wedged inside a crisp bag.

The fox was cowering on a mound in the park adjacent to the school, with no apparent way of removing the bag.

Steve, who was walking his dog, returned to school and then found the fox again when he was equipped with a litter picker, which he eventually used to free the fox, who bolted off into the bushes, apparently non the worse for his escapade.

Steve said: "Hopefully this shows the unfortunate consequences of just throwing away rubbish. I was pleased to be able to help the animal."
