THURROCK's celebrated comedian and musician Jordan Gray (Tall Dark Friend) won rave reviews for a performance on the relaunched Friday Night Live as returned to Channel 4 on Friday (21 October).

As well as delivering a song, she then stunned the audience by stripping fuilly naked and dancing on the stage and her keyboard.

The Eighties comedy series returned for a one-off episode as part of the channel's 40th anniversary celebrations and Jordan stole the show!

When it came time for her to play her set, Gray sat down in front of a piano in a hot pink power suit and told the audience just how excited she was to be a part of this event.

Jordan, who competed on The Voice back in 2016, took to the Friday Night Live stage wearing a bright pink suit to perform a comedic song about her experiences as a trans woman.

"This is the coolest night of my life, you're watching me experience the coolest night of my life," she said, before launching into a funny song about her experience as a transgender woman.

"I'm more than just a female Russell Brand," she sang at one point, garnering laughs from the entire room.

Then she brought down the house by stripping naked as she said: "You know the best thing about live TV is that I can do stupid stuff like this!" before proceeding to dance around naked.

People online said they were incredibly moved by her performance as she cast a spotlight on the existence of trans people and the fact that they, too, deserve to be treated as equals.

One viewer tweeted: "OMG! I am literally crying happy tears right now. So good to see someone like me on live TV! Thank you and endless love, Jordan!"

Former Hassenbrook Academy and Palmer's College student Jordan's performance career is now well into its second decade.

Initially a singer she gigged around Essex and London for ten years, the first eight years of which as Jordan Redford Gray, her then full name.

She released an album, Pop Psychology, in 2012, and a second album, The Baffled King, in 2015.

Under the name Tall Dark Friend, became The Voice UK's first transgender contestant in 2016, and became a semi-finalist. She then released a single, Platinum, which charted at #114 on the UK Singles Chart.

She decided to become a comedian after being dropped by her record label, having performed a skit between performances on one of the live shows on The Voice UK, and having found it more fun than singing; every three days for three months afterwards, she sat in the front row at Top Secret Comedy Club in London and made notes about structure and storytelling.

She performed her first gig at The Bill Murray and in a dressing gown and surgical bandages, as she had just had breast implants installed. She won the Best New Comedian award at the Panic Awards in 2019.
