Jorden pays tribute to her mentor as her own name goes above the door of salon

By Neil Speight 14th Mar 2022

A THURROCK hairstylist and beautician has completed her dream by opening up her own salon in Grays.

Borough mayor Cllr Sue Shinnick was on hand to formally open the The Honey Comb Grays.

It has been a long-held ambition for Jorden Hughes to own her own hair and beauty salon and, after taking a break from the profession in which she started when she was 14 to look after her two children, she is now proud to see her name above the salon at 140B Hathaway Road where she started work in all those years ago.

And, at the opening, Jorden paid tribute to the former owner of the salon when it was known as Debonair – Debbie Bowers, saying: "Sadly, she is no longer with us anymore but I have many lovely memories. It's because of her that I am here today.

"Thank-you to our lovely Mayor Sue for coming down to open the salon. We look forward to seeing everyone in the salon soon."
