A BOROUGH youngster is just one of a number of local sea cadets going taking on a fundraising challenge.

Thurrock TS Dragon Sea Cadets are trying to raise money to buy a new minibus and have a target of £30,000!

The group's existing bus has reached the end of its life and transport is vital to help the youngsters fulfil their tasks.

Currently the Unit is relying on parents and guardians to transport cadets to and from events which is not always possible.

Setting a great example is 12-year-old Kasey Lane who has embraced the challenge.

He has been out and about in his spare time with collection buckets and has already raised £130.

His mum Alana says: "They are such a brilliant organisation who give our local children such wonderful opportunities, gaining life skills, providing them with qualifications, and taking them on such special trips and events that they would never normally get to experience."

The unit has set up a funding donation page, which can be accessed by clicking the 'additional information' button below.
