Knits, natter and a Scrabble for words
By Nub News Reporter 19th Mar 2026
THE Thurrock branch of the Re-engage charity held its first games night of 2026 at Headon Hall in Stifford Clays last night (Wednesday, 18 March).
Group Coordinator and Games night organiser for the charity, which supports lonely, elderly and vulnerable people, is Paula Mullooly, who said: "We welcomed our new volunteer, Maxine who played Scrabble with our lovely guest, Bridget.
"A night of knit and natter for the rest of us. Lots of chat and laughter, catching up with each other over tea and cake.
"Thank you as always to the volunteers for driving and supporting our guests. We couldn't do this without you.

Regional organiser Loraine Coleman added: "Thank you so much, Paula, for organising our very first Games Night of 2026. Such a lovely evening bringing everyone together for games, knitting, and most importantly, wonderful friendship.
"A big thank you as well to all our amazing volunteers who take such great care of our guests — these special events simply wouldn't be possible without your time, kindness, and dedication."
