SIX hundred new laptops have been delivered to Thurrock Council for vulnerable children in the borough following funding provided by the Department for Education, in addition to 20 laptops the council have provided.

Cllr James Halden, Cabinet Member for Children and Adult Social Care, said: "Thanks to generous funding from the Government we are successfully providing some of our most vulnerable children and young people known to social services with laptops to support them during this challenging time.

"This new equipment will help children, families and care leavers with a social worker to access social care and resources to support their safety and wellbeing. It will also help them to access remote education.

"By providing a laptop to those most in need we can see our children continue to meet their learning and development targets for the year, provided safely in line with Government guidance."
