Last chance to call for cut and cover tunnels to protect our health says councillor who urges residents to have their say
A VETERAN Thurrock councillor is calling on residents in his ward to act and try to change plans that he says will seriously damge their health in years to come.
Chadwell St Mary councillor Gerard Rice says the clock is ticking on the opportunity to influence Highways England as they plot the route of the Lower Thames Crossing through Thurrock.
He says: "Highways England have informed us that Heath Road and Brentwood Road will be shut on a temporary basis and Hornsby Lane will be permanentlycloses during the seven year construction programme.
"The crossing's six lane motorway will be 600 yards away from the High Rise flats in Godman Road and this will affect the quality of life for all residents and Chadwell and Orsett Heath.
"This consultation which runs until 25 March will be your last opportunity to demand cut and cover tunnels around Chadwell St Mary and Orsett heath to protect residents from COPD and breathing-related illnesses and diseases. "Please go to the conultation page (accessible via the red information button below) or write a letter to David Manning, Development Director, Freepost, LTC Consultation.
