LOCAL residents will get a chance to learn how to save a life this weekend – and explore the opportunity of joining a local team of 'first responders'.

On Saturday (31 October) Stanford, Corringham & Tilbury Community First Responders will be holding a recruitment day from 11.30 to 3pm at Hassengate Community Hall on Dunstable Road, Stanford-le-Hope, SS17 8QT.

The event offers the opportunity to check out a specialist ambulance, a responder car, see a chair that gets people off the floor with ease and try out some of the equipment and the latest female resus dummy and training defibrillator for visitors to Learn CPR.

First Responders co-ordinator Sue Wilsdon says: "Meet our friendly team and find out what we do.

"See the equipment we use. Have a go and get hands-on!

"Find out how becoming a Community First Responder could fit around your work, family and everyday life. As a Community First Responder, you could provide vital, lifesaving care to someone in your community before the ambulance crew arrives.

"You don't need to know everything before you start — just come along, have a chat and find out more!
