THE new permanent head of Corringham Primary School has been confirmed.

Lee Porter has been appointed following a competitive selection process by the Trust Board of the Ortu Federation which runs the school on Herd Lane.

Dr Sophina Asong, CEO of the Ortu Federation said: "Mr Porter brings with him strong pedagogic pedigree, a searing passion for excellent achievement for all children, an appreciation of the value of parental engagement, partnership working and the distributed leadership approaches which have become even more important in these fluid and unpredictable times."

Mr Porter was Deputy Headteacher, and then Acting Headteacher at Corringham and credits his success to his own experience in making sure all children are well cared for, supported and achieve their best every time.

He said: "I am particularly proud of the way in which Ortu Corringham Primary came together as a team during the COVID pandemic. Since September, the team has gone above and beyond to ensure that standards remain high even in the midst of so much change. The Corringham spirit is still here – not only within staff but also in the wider community."

A statement from the Ortu Federation said: "All are confident in and grateful for the welcome which colleagues and community will afford Mr. Lee Porter in his new position, as the school embarks on the next phase of its journey to educational beacon and outstanding status."
