Lights go on as carols, festive songs and service draw crowd to town's centrepiece tree

STANFORD-le-Hope's Christmas lights and the town's Christmas Tree were switched on this evening in a ceremony followed by a short nativity performance, service and carold singing.

It all took place on the Green outside St Margaret's Church and was organised by the Stanford Blooming Marvels Group which looks after many garden spaces, borders and planters in the town.
