YOUNGSTERS at 2 Little Birds Preschool, based in Grays have been supporting the Friends of Essex and London Homeless with their rucksack appeal.

The preschool, located on Chestnut Avenue, received a donation of rucksacks in the summer from Costco and they have been put to good use.

The charity, founded by Thurrock couple Steven and Cheryl Stuart, runs a 'rucksack appeal' when supporters are invited to fill rucksacks with socks, gloves, hats, sweets, drink cartons,

toothbrushes, toothpaste, wipes and deodorant and other essential items. Owners Tracy Rowe and Donna Tomlinson told Nub News: "We have been wondering how to make the most of the donation and we heard about the charity's appeal. "We heard about their rucksack appeal and decided to join forces with Hutton Pre-school in Hutton to see if we could fill 10 rucksacks. We asked parents, carers and staff for donations and we were overwhelmed by people's generosity. "We finally donated 30 rucksacks to the appeal and we are absolutely thrilled by people's generosity to help with this."
