THE east of the borough is set for significant traffic disruption this coming weekend, with a major closure of the A13.

As work on the widening of the carriageways in both directions continues the A13 will be closed in both directions between the Stanford Interchange (Manorway) and the Orsett Cock Roundabout from 9pm on Friday (12 June) until 5am on Monday (15 June).

The eastbound diversion will be A13 eastbound exit slip road at A128 (Orsett Cock roundabout), A1013 Stanford Road eastbound to A1014 (The Manorway, Stanford-le-Hope), A13 eastbound entry slip road.

The westbound diversion will be A13 westbound exit slip road at A1014 (The Manorway, Stanford-le-Hope), The Manorway roundabout, A1013 Stanford Road westbound to A128 (Orsett Cock roundabout) junction and A13 westbound entry slip road.

Non-local traffic will be advised to avoid the A13 and to use A127 instead.

In order to minimise the impact of this closure on surrounding towns and villages, the previously-used village protection measures will be implemented.

These include: The introduction of a one-way system through Horndon village, with Gordon Road operating northbound only, Victoria Road operating southbound only, and the closure of the Orsett Road High Road junction in the heart of the village.

In addition, Buckingham Hill Road will be closed between Stanford Road and The Tip to enable Stanford Road to flow freely.
