Man admits snatching taser from police officer

A GRAYS man has admitted in court to assaulting his brother and the police officer who arrested him.

Rocky Price, 31, of Jesmond Road, was wanted on recall to prison at the time, Basildon Crown Court was told.

A response officer was dispatched to the incident on the evening of 28 February 2025 after reports of an assault.

He spotted Price, who matched the suspect's description, in Lodge Lane. Price ran off but the officer rapidly caught up with him.

Price immediately began to struggle, managing to take the officer's Taser from its holster. However, the officer quickly recovered possession and arrested him.

In court, Price admitted charges of assaulting a police officer, assault causing actual bodily harm and possession of a firearm – a Taser – with intent to cause fear of violence.

Price is due to be sentenced at the same court on 14 April 2025.
