Man arrested after alleged assault on emergency worker in heart of Grays

POLICE have confirmed the arrest of a man following an incident in the centre of Grays today (Friday, 29 April).

Officers were called at 12.30pm today following reports of a disturbance on Clarence Road, Grays. It happened close to the High Street outside a shop opposite the Courtyard Inn.

A number of police vehicles arrived at the scene after the alarm was raised.

A police statement says: "We arrested a 41-year-old man from Grays on suspicion of assault on emergency worker. He remains in custody for questioning."
