By Neil Speight   23rd May 2022

POLICE have been keeping guard over a home that received massive structural damage following a dramatic crash in the early hours of yesterday (Sunday, 22 May).

The incident happened close to the junction of Meesons Lane with London Road in Grays and the house suffered severe damage when the vehicle smashed through the front wall and window of the semi-detached home around 2am.

Structural engineers were due to visit the property today. The vehicle has been left in place until the engineers are able to assess the nature of the damage.

A police statement says: "A man has been charged after a car struck a home in Grays. The incident was reported to us shortly before 2am on Sunday 22 May.

A 35-year-old man from Grays was arrested on suspicion of a number of offences. Isaac Hagan, 35, of Wood View, has been charged with failing to give information of a driver when required and failing to allow a specimen of blood to be analysed.

He is due to appear in Basildon Magistrates' Court on Monday, 16 June.
