A 32-year-old is charged with multiple offences including ram raid when a vehicle was driven into a shop in Tilbury.

Josh Jerrum, of no fixed abode, is charged with:

  • 12 counts of theft
  • Threats to destroy property
  • Racially aggravated common assault
  • Assault by beating
  • Causing grievous bodily harm without intent
  • Attempted robbery
  • Possession of an offensive weapon in a public place
  • Burglary

The thefts, threats to destroy property, racially aggravated common assault and assault by beating charges follow reports of shop theft from a supermarket in Calcutta Road, Tilbury, between August and November 2025.

The grievous bodily harm without intent, attempted robbery and weapon possession charges follow reports forced entry to a property in Elgar Gardens in Tilbury on 20 October.

Jerrum reportedly injured the victim and attempted to take items from inside the property before leaving the scene.

The burglary charge relates to a raid on a shop in Montreal Road, Tilbury, on 17 September when a vehicle rammed the building before items were stolen.

Jerrum appeared at Basildon Magistrates' Court on Saturday, 22 November and has been remanded in custody ahead of appearing at Basildon Crown Court on Friday, 19 December 2025.
