By Neil Speight   22nd Jun 2020

ALL the emergency services, including the RNLI were deployed to deal with an incident by the side of the Thames in Purfleet yesterday evening (Sunday, 21 June).

Police officers, firefighters, the ambulance service and a helicopter were called out, with the Gravesend lifeboat crew providing assistance on the river.

A statement from Essex Police says: "We were called shortly after 5.35pm with concerns for the safety of a man seen in the water at Harrison's Wharf, Purfleet.

"Officers and the coastguard attended. He came out of the water and was left in the care of health professionals."
